Mississippi native Austin Seals completed his undergraduate degree in management information science at Claflin University. A summer research internship sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security at North Carolina A&T State University fueled his interest in data science. As a college senior, Austin attended the Institute’s inaugural Exploring Data Science symposium (which has since evolved into a webinar series). While an MSA student, Austin gained exposure to the finance industry through his practicum project with Fifth Third Bank. Upon completing the MSA in May 2020, he joined Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as a biostatistician/data scientist.
