What started with me saying I could run a marathon in under 6 hours with no training turned into a fundraiser for Beau’s Buddies Cancer Fund that far exceeded my expectations. With the help of the entire Institute for Advanced Analytics, we were able to raise over $4,500 in just a few days!
On November 18th, at 2 p.m., I began the most physically and mentally challenging thing I have ever done. I ran a 1.65-mile loop 16 times. I had at least two classmates with me on each lap and even had Dr. West and Brandon for two laps each. I am amazed and blessed with the support I received from classmates, faculty, staff, friends, and family.
I think this event represents what it means to be a student at the Institute for Advanced Analytics. It is truly a marathon and not a sprint; you will be challenged and pushed beyond your comfort zone, but you will have a huge support system backing you the entire way. I am proud to say that I completed the marathon in 5 hours and 47 minutes and truly could not have done it without my classmates. It was an amazing experience, and I feel so blessed to be a part of this program.
