IAA’s Annual School Supplies Drive
On average, teachers spend $500 each school year for supplies for their students. In order to help decrease this amount locally, the students at the Institute for Advanced Analytics organized a supplies drive for Centennial Campus Middle School (CCMS).
Eight students from the class of 2019 devised a plan covering what supply items to collect, how to collect the supplies, how to handle monetary donations, and who would deliver the supplies. For two weeks, the Volunteer Task Force collected school supply items and monetary donations. To spark a little friendly competition, each cohort competed to see who could donate the most; for every item/dollar donated we awarded that cohort 1 point. At the end of the two weeks, the orange cohort just edged out the blue cohort.
Between the two cohorts, $730 was donated along with 150 brand new school supply items. Monetary donations were used to purchase 37 gift cards for teachers to use for classroom necessities. These items were packaged and delivered to CCMS three days before the start of the new school year. This supplies drive was a great success and would have not been possible without the help of the students and faculty within the IAA, CCMS, and the community. The IAA wishes Centennial Campus Middle School a great school year!
